''Trillium sulcatum'', common names: Southern Red Trillium, Barksdale Trillium or Furrowed Wakerobin, is a perennial wildflower which blooms in April and May. In is native to southern Appalachian Mountains and nearby areas from West Virginia to Alabama.〔(Kew World Checklist of Selected Plant Families )〕〔(Biota of North America Program 2013 county distribution map )〕 ''Trillium sulcatum'' bears its dark reddish flowers on stems above the pedicellate leaves, with recurved (bent backwards) petals. The berry is also red.
